JACKSON, Tenn. (December 5, 2018) - It took the entire 40 minutes, but the Lane College men's basketball team completed the sweep of in-state rival Christian Brothers University on Wednesday night, knocking off the Bucs, 54-51 at J.F. Lane Gymnasium. It was the team's sixth straight win, improving to 6-2 overall.
LaJustin Anderson and
Terrace Holt finished in double digit scoring for the Dragons, finishing with 16 and 13 points, respectfully.
Ai'Shontis Sanders had seven assists and seven rebounds, along with a block and a steal.
Tied at 49 apiece with less than three minutes to go in the contest, Holt nailed a three-pointer from the top of the key, assisted by a pass from Anderson to give Lane a slim three-point lead. Neither team could find the bottom of the net until the Bucs cut the lead to one thanks to two free throws with just 18 tics left on the clock. But, the next possession for the Dragons, point guard
Daniel Hill stepped up and drained two free throws of his own to extend the lead to three with 3.3 seconds left on the clock to ensure the victory.
Next up for the Dragons, they head to Atlanta to take on Clark Atlanta on Saturday and University of West Florida on Sunday.
