Augusta, GA (November 24, 2018) - With just over 3:43 left to go, the Lane College women's basketball team felt like they had just fought their way out of the fire. After leading by double digits in the first quarter against host Paine College, Saturday afternoon in Augusta, Ga., the Lady Lions had slowly whittled that lead away, taking their first lead with 3:28 left in the first half.

But the Lady Dragons had to withstand one more run, and this time, they young team found away to withstand that just from Paine, as, after the Lady Lions cut the lead to just four with 46 seconds left, senior guard Addie McNeely, who had just checked back in, knocked in a layup, then fought again for a rebound that she handed off to a streaking back door cutting Alexis Harris, who crucially knocked down two free throws to give Lane the 71-63 win to improve to 1-0 in SIAC play.

Three Lady Dragons finished in double figures led by Porchia Hannah, who led the team with 18 points coming off of 8-of-11 shooting. She added five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Harris finished with 16 points with 10 of her points coming at the charity stripe. She went 10-of-13 from the free throw line. Newcomer Breaunna Burks dropped in 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and a team-leading four steals.

Lane jumped out to the early lead thanks to shooting over 46 percent as a team in the first half.

The Lady Dragons continue their road swing when they travel to Columbia, SC this Monday to take on Benedict College. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. EST.
