Lady Dragons sweep Lady Thorobreds

JACKSON, Tenn. (January 27, 2018) - After leading by as many as 10 in the first half, less than nine minutes left in the game and the Lady Thorobreds had cut that double-digit lead by the Lady Dragons down to a single digit. One. That's when Lane College would make their move to insure a sweep over visiting Kentucky State University on Lane College's campus Saturday in Jackson, Tenn.
Over the next three minutes, the Lady Dragons would go on a 21-9 run to close out the game to pick up a 72-59 win to improve to 4-8 in SIAC play. The loss dropped the Thorobreds to 6-6 in the conference.
Junior guard
Antrice McCoy led all scorers, finishing with a game-high 21 points. The Jacksonville, Ar. native shot 80 percent from the floor while picking up four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Two other Lady Dragons finished in double-figures led by
Mariah Hopkins, who dropped in 14 while senior center
Ashley Gayle flirted with another double-double. Gayle had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds in the win. As a team, Lane College shot nearly 47 percent in the game.Â

The Lady Dragons remain at home as they play game-two of a five-game home stand Monday night against Central State University. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
