JACKSON, Tenn. (January 11, 2018) - Good teams make runs. It's what they do. Better teams can weather the runs. It's what they do.

Both teams made runs Thursday night, but Lane College was the better team as they withstood a late push from visiting Philander-Smith College to pick up the 77-72 win.

Trailing 20-6 early in the game, the Dragons outscored the Panthers 31-13 to take a slim four-point lead into the locker room. The hot shooting continued for Lane out of the break as they built their lead to 19 points with just under 10 minutes to play. That's when the Panthers made their final run, cutting the lead to one with 57 seconds left to play.

But unlike similar circumstances earlier in the season, when the Dragons went to the line, they made just enough free trows to keep the Panthers at bay, nailing 4-6 from the charity stripe in the final minute.

Terrace Holt led all Dragons with 19 points in 20 minutes of play. Ai'Shontis Sanders and Myles Lee finished with 12 points apiece, 21 of their total combined 24 points came from beyond the arc. Kendarius Ash finished with 11 points, shooting 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

Lane College is back in action this Saturday when they host conference foe Spring Hill College at JF Lane Gymnasium. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m. or directly following the conclusion of the women's matchup.
