Last second shot gives Rams win over Dragons in OT

JACKSON, Tenn. (December 30, 2017) - Sometimes in life, you can do all of the right things and still fall short. What happens in life, also happened on the court Saturday evening as a last second desperation shot from the visiting Albany State dropped as time expired in overtime to give the Rams a 73-72 win over the host Dragons at JF Lane Gymnasium.
With Lane up 72-67 and only 13 seconds left in the extra frame, the Rams were able to knock down a long distance three to cut the lead to two, 72-70. Somehow, ASU's Johnathan Henderson, seeing his first minutes of the contest, was able to recover a loose ball, give it a heave-ho with just 1.1 seconds left, and somehow the ball found the bottom of the net as time expired.
The Dragons led for most of the contest, with four players finishing in double figures led by junior forward
Kendarius Ash leading the way with another double-double dropping in a team-leading 24 points and pulling in 10 rebounds.
Jade Patrick added 16 points,
Myles Lee finished with 11 and newcomer Terrace Holt added 10 points.
Lane College continues their home stand Monday as they host Fort Valley State on Lane's campus. Tip off is set for 4 p.m. or 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
