Coach Vyron Brown is entering his third season as Head Coach after spending one season as Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach with the Lane College football program.
Brown joined Lane after spending three seasons at Lincoln Prep High School in Grambling, Louisiana where he was the Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. He helped lead the Panthers to back-to-back second round LHSAA playoff appearances.
Prior to his time at Lincoln Prep, Brown served as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Texas Southern. In two seasons at TSU, Brown signed 12 student-athletes and coached one player who was named Second Team All-SWAC (Wide Receiver Derrick Griffin).
Before joining Texas Southern University, Brown spent three seasons as Offensive Coordinator at Grambling State University. In his first season, Grambling State won the SWAC Championship with a record of 8-4.
Brown also spent two seasons at Alabama State and was a part of the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division Championship team and also served as an assistant coach on the West squad in the inaugural HBCU Bowl. During his tenure at ASU, Brown’s offenses totaled 6,365 overall yards and had at least one player ranked in the top 10 of every offensive statistical category. He had two players rush for over 500 yards and two who passed for over 1,500.
Brown served as Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs coach at Shaw University where he guided the offense to the top of the CIAA conference in scoring with 40.6 points per game and the 2008 CIAA Championship.
Prior to joining the staff at Shaw, Brown was the Interim Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge, La. where he led the Kittens to the 2007 state playoffs.
From 2004-06, Brown was the Running Back coach at Grambling State University and was an integral part of the Tigers 2005 Co-National and SWAC championship season. Along with his on the field duties, Brown served as NFL liaison and recruiting coordinator. He also served as summer football camps coordinator.
Brown’s GSU coaching career also includes stints as a graduate assistant (2002) working with defensive backs and as part-time running backs coach (2003).
He began his coaching career as the offensive coordinator at Carroll High School in Monroe, La.
Brown was selected for the Bill Walsh Fellowship Program Internship with the Kansas City Chiefs In 2012.
A Grambling graduate with both a bachelors (electronics engineering technology, 2001) and masters (public administration, 2003) degree, Brown was a two-time captain and member of back-to-back National and SWAC Championship teams.
A native of Shreveport, La., Brown is the father of three sons, Vyron, Isaiah, and Jeremiah. He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association.
