Softball wins two more at SIAC Crossover

HOOVER, Ala. - In a dominant performance at the SIAC Crossover, Lane cruised to a 13-2 victory over Allen at the Hoover Met Complex this week.

Lane's starting pitcher, Autumn Phillips, was stellar, throwing five innings of two-hit ball, allowing just one earned run while striking out two and walking two. Phillips was backed by a balanced offensive attack that produced 13 runs on 7 hits.

Allen got on the board first in the top of the 1st inning, thanks to a two-run single. However, Lane responded quickly in the bottom of the inning, plating five runs. Kathrynanne Ivy's two-run single to left was followed by a wild pitch that scored another run. Then, Sierra Luster drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in two more, putting Lane up 5-2 after one inning.

Lane didn't stop there. The second inning saw another run cross the plate on a wild pitch, and the third inning was a complete offensive onslaught, with eight more runs crossing the plate. Koralie Morin tripled in two RBIs, and the offensive barrage continued with a two-RBI single by Journey Custer, putting the game well out of reach at 13-2.

On the final day of the event, Lane pulled out a 6-1 win over Savannah State.

Lane took control early in the game, putting up three runs in the first inning. Ja'Kai Ray walked and advanced to second on a throw, later scoring on an error by the Savannah State catcher. Morin then sealed the inning with a two-run homer to extend the lead to 3-0.

Savannah State had difficulty getting their offense going, as Morin, who also pitched the full game, kept them at bay.

Lane's offense continued to produce in the third inning, with Kyra Vieux singling to drive in a run, and Luster following up with a two-RBI single, putting the game out of reach.

Morin dominated in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five.
