Dragons earn sweep in Mississippi

LAUREL, Miss. - The Lane College softball team swept Southeastern Baptist in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The sweep moves the Dragons to 19-3 so far this season.

Jonni Sanchez picked up her first win of the season in game one, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out four batters.

Jersey Cabana got the save in 2.0 innings of work, striking out five of the six outs she collected.

Halle Koger led the way at the plate, going 4-for-5 and scoring two runs from the lead-off position.

Senior Kandace Prather was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

The Lane bats stayed hot in game two as the team scored 12 runs on 10 hits.

Millay Lambert was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI and Ava Mearideth was 2-for-3 with two RBI and her first career home run.

Journey Custer was 2-for-2 with two doubles and one walk. The sophomore catcher also scored three runs.

Cabana got the complete game win, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out five batters.

Lane will travel to Tuscaloosa on Thursday to take on former SIAC division rival Stillman College in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 PM.
