Lady Dragons pick up two wins over Crowley's Ridge

PARAGOULD, Ar. (April 22, 2019) - The Lady Dragons' softball team stepped outside of SIAC play on Monday, picking up two wins over host Crowley's Ridge in Paragould, Arkansas. Lane picked up a close 2-1 victory in Game 1 before blowing out the Pioneers in Game 2, 16-6.

Game 1
Lane 2, Crowley's Ridge 1


Nautica Huddleston stepped back into the circle and picked up a 2-1 complete game victory. In 7.0 innings, Huddleson gave up one earned run off seven hits, gave up a walk and picked up a strikeout in the win. Brittany Ensley went 2-for-3 with the two RBI scored in the contest. She homered to right field in the top of the second to put the Lady Dragons on the board and hit a go-ahead single when she singled to second base to score Kyra Reed from third base.

Lane 16, Crowley's Ridge 6


Kayla Saul started the game in the Circle for the Lady Dragons in the second match of the doubleheader but it was Ensley who picked up the win for Lane. Getting help from her defense, in 4.0 innings, Ensley gave up two earned runs off of 10 hits, picked up three strikeouts and walked only one. The pitching staff got a lot of help from their offense as well, taking a three run lead into the top of the seventh, 9-6, before exploding to score seven runs to seal the victory.

Senior infielder Rickera Martin went 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Raelynn Lee was 3-for-4 with two RBI, a walk and three runs scored.

The Lady Dragons are back in action this Wednesday when they take on crosstown rival Union University for a doubleheader starting with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.

They return to conference play this weekend when they play a three-game set with conference foe Lemoyne-Owen College. The times for the games are yet to be determined as this is a make-up match that was rained out last weekend.
