ALBANY, Ga. (May 4, 2018) - After falling in a hard fought game to No. 1 seeded Albany State, 3-1, on Thursday, The Lane College Lady Dragons softball team knew they had to win today to keep their championship hopes alive in this year's SIAC Championship tournament.
But when the team looked up, heading into the top of the fourth inning against Benedict, the outlook was not good. After plating three in the bottom of the previous frame, the Lady Tigers had a 5-0 lead.
And that's when Lane began their comeback, scoring seven unanswered runs, eventually knocking off Benedict, 7-6, ending the Lady Tigers' season and guaranteeing the Lady Dragons at least one more game.
Ericka Webster picked up the win in relief, giving up one run off two hits, striking out five in four innings. Webster was also 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored and a walk.
Whitney Knighton was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk.
Jarvaneika Deloach went 2-for-4 with a run scored.Â
Raven Shoulders also went 2-for-4 in the win. Â
The Lady Dragons take the field later today, taking on the loser of the Tuskegee/Kentucky State matchup slated for 2 p.m. EST.
