JACKSON, Tenn. (March 8, 2018) - The Lane College softball team dropped a heartbreaker in Game 2 of a doubleheader to Bethel University on a sunny, but cold day, Thursday afternoon at Muse Park in Jackson, Tenn., 13-8.
Sophomore centerfielder Jamesia Parks led off the game with a stand up triple to centerfield and scored two batters later thanks to a single from senior
Ericka Webster. After one inning, the Lady Dragons led 2-0.
After the Lady Wildcats tied the game in the top of the third, Lane retook the lead in the bottom of the frame when sophomore catcher
Teyonna Clady singled, scoring
Jarvaneika Deloach to give the Lady Dragons a one-run advantage.
Just like the previous frame, Bethel took a two run lead in the fourth, only to see that lead disappear thanks to a five-run bottom of the fourth inning from Lane. Unfortunately, that is when the Lane college offense hit a wall.
Webster finished the game 2-for-4 with a RBI, a run scored and two walks. Freshman infielder
Whitney Knighton went 2-for-3 with a RBI, a run scored and a walk.Â

Raven Shoulders broke up a Bethel University no hitter when she singled to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning but the Lady Dragons were not able to bring a run across against the Lady Wildcats' ace pitcher. Senior infielder
Kyla Riley picked up the Lady Dragons' other hit in the next inning.
